Download my September lesson plan calendar to help you stay on budget! September brings the launching of the school year and is always a time of new beginnings. I started a lesson plan calendar for you to work off of if you want. You can download it for free below.
How my lesson plans work
Included in the September lesson calendar you will find general topics for each week. Each topic comes from my personal scope & sequence for science and history. I focus on fun, activity-based lessons, which fit my son. The plans I am giving you, are general topics with lesson ideas for your children. On each activity page, I include links to get you started. Download my lesson plan book to write your personal lesson plans, if you need to.
I almost always teach math separately, and also practice reading and language lessons. Then we focus on the science and social studies topics, then include activities that center around that. You can include books on the topic and then write sentences or stories. Use whatever fits your child’s abilities. If your child cannot write, then let them tell you a story.
Of course, you may also want to add in your handwriting and Bible lessons. I try to use Bible verses for handwriting lessons and we regularly read a passage from the Bible and discuss it. There are tons of cute activities and crafts on Pinterest that are Bible centered if you feel you need them.
I don’t know about you, but when it comes to science, I use the creation story to guide my teaching. You can purchase creation-based curriculum through Christianbooks.com, or follow my scope & sequence and make up your own activities.
If you cannot afford a textbook, start with the topics in the plans and choose some activities to teach them. Write your own lesson plans and document what you need to. And, don’t forget to have fun!
Learning really should be fun!
